The Westin Sohna Launches Tangra – Tales of Chinatown
The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa has opened a new restaurant called Tangra – Tales of Chinatown.
It’s inspired by Kolkata’s Tangra neighbourhood, which is known for its Chinese community and delicious food.
The restaurant serves traditional Hakka-style Chinese dishes like Chimney Soup, Shao Mai, and Tangra-style Chilli Chicken, along with vegetarian options and seafood specialties.
The design of the restaurant is meant to feel like walking through Chinatown, with elements like a koi pond, guardian lions, and a glowing chandelier.
The food is prepared with care, using some ingredients sourced from family-run makers in Kolkata.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner every day, and it’s a great place to go for a special meal that feels both nostalgic and modern.

“Great cuisines are born at the crossroads of culture, and Tangra is one of the most powerful examples of that. It preserves centuries of heritage and memory in every bite. Chinatown in Tangra, Kolkata, was where my love for food first found its voice in the crackle of woks, the aroma of garlic and soy, and the warmth of meals that brought people together. With Tangra- Tales of Chinatown, my dream has been to bring that spirit alive, soulful food rooted in authenticity, presented with refinement, and designed to create experiences that linger not just on the palate, but in memory.”
