Telangana police launch 112 emergency number replacing old Dial 100
The police in Telangana have a new emergency phone number: 112.
Before, people had to call 100 for police help.
Now, dialing 112 connects people to the police, fire, and medical emergency services in one call.
The police chief, CV Anand, started the new service on Wednesday.
He launched it at a special command centre in Hyderabad.
The service brings together as many as 18 different emergency services.
