Minister Promises Compensation as Veligonda Project Water Release Nears

A minister said people displaced by the Veligonda Project will receive the compensation promised to them.

He asked them not to worry or believe false information.

The government plans to release 10 TMC feet of water to the project on the 31st of this month.

He said this would fulfill a promise to release water before the end of August.

The project was started when Nara Chandrababu Naidu was chief minister in 1996.

The minister said Naidu was now completing the project works 30 years later.

The government approved Rs 900 crore for oustee compensation.

So far, Rs 768 crore has been paid, and the remaining people are expected to receive their money.

The minister also said feeder canal lining works had been completed.
