Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Schools Get Six-Day August Holiday Breaks
Schools in two parts of India called Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are giving students several days off in August.
In the first weekend, students get a three-day break from August 8 to August 10.
This is because of a regular Saturday holiday, a Sunday off, and a festival called Bonalu with a special day after it called Rangam.
In the next week, students get another three-day break from August 15 to August 17.
India celebrates Independence Day on August 15, and there is a festival called Naga Panchami on August 17.
Some of these holidays depend on the school's choice, so families should check with their own school.
In Telangana, schools will have 22 working days in August.
Teachers are also planning fun activities like games, essay writing, and sports for Independence Day.
Students in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh could get six days off school within a span of 10 days this August if all scheduled holidays are observed.
The first three-day break runs from August 8 to 10, covering Second Saturday, Sunday with Bonalu, and the Rangam holiday declared by the Telangana government on August 10.
In Andhra Pradesh, normal activity on August 8 may also be affected by a Manyam Bandh called by the Adivasi Joint Action Committee over tribal rights.
The second three-day break runs from August 15 to 17, covering Independence Day, Sunday, and Naga Panchami on August 17, which is listed as an optional holiday.
Telangana's official academic calendar lists 22 working days in August 2026, with the Class I School Preparation Module continuing until August 28 and regular syllabus starting August 29.
