The Puri temple plans to make a new set of ornaments for a special ceremony called Suna Besha.

During this ceremony, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra wear golden decorations.

The temple committee approved the plan at a meeting on Saturday.

The temple administration will pay for the work and may also accept donations.

Temple officials recorded the old ornaments with videos and 3D maps.

These records will help jewellers copy the designs and important details.

“During the ongoing inventory of ‘Ratna Bhandar’ (temple treasury), we videographed and conducted 3D mapping of the ornaments, including those used in the Lord’s ‘Suna Besha’. Therefore, all the designs and religious significance of the ornaments will be maintained.”
