A bus and a motorcycle crashed near Thane in October 2019.

Ananta Mahadu Vishe was riding the motorcycle and was badly injured.

He was later found to have a permanent disability.

The person riding behind him, Shripat Bhau Ubale, died the next day.

Vishe asked a tribunal for money to help compensate for his injuries.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation said Vishe was partly responsible.

It claimed he was driving too fast and without proper lights or signals.

The tribunal rejected that argument and blamed the bus driver alone.

It ordered compensation of ₹5.17 lakh with 9% yearly interest.
