270 Girls Crammed Into Three Rooms Await New Hostel
A government school in Selda is currently housing 270 girls in only three small rooms.
The girls are studying in Classes 6 through 11.
The rooms are very crowded, making it hard to sleep, keep belongings and do everyday activities.
The situation also raises concerns about privacy, cleanliness and health.
A larger building has already been built in nearby Saikhedi.
It can house 500 students.
However, the girls have not moved because the building has not been formally handed over or opened.
MLA Jhuma Solanki demanded quick action.
An official said the girls would be moved there soon.
Two hundred seventy girls from Classes 6 to 11 are living in three 10-by-15-foot rooms at Government High School in Selda.
The overcrowding has created problems with sleeping, storing belongings and daily activities, along with concerns about privacy, sanitation and health.
A newly completed Kanya Shiksha Parisar in Saikhedi can accommodate 500 students but has not yet been handed over or inaugurated.
MLA Jhuma Solanki inspected both sites and gave officials a two-day ultimatum to begin shifting the girls.
