Adivasi Leaders Take Oath for Jal, Jangal, Jameen Rights
Adivasis are tribal people who live close to nature.
On a special day called International Adivasi Day, many of them came together in the Adilabad district of Telangana.
Their leaders made a promise to stand up for their rights to water, forests, and land.
These three things are very important to Adivasis because they depend on the forest.
People marched through the streets of Adilabad, Utnoor, and Asifabad to show they were serious.
Some leaders told the crowd that forest workers treat Adivasis unfairly.
They asked government officials to solve the problem of land being taken away from tribal people.
One leader even asked the Prime Minister for help.
The leaders hope the government will protect Adivasi rights, just like the constitution promises.
International Adivasi Day was observed across the erstwhile Adilabad district in Telangana on Sunday, with programmes and processions in Adilabad, Utnoor, and Asifabad.
Adivasi leaders took an oath to fight for their rights on Jal (water), Jangal (forest), and Jameen (land).
The events were organised by Thudum Debba, Adivasi Sena, and Adivasi Sankshema Parishath, along with district and ITDA officials.
Former Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao urged forest officials to stop harassing Adivasis and appealed to Godam Nagesh to take the tribal land issue to Prime Minister Narendra Modi; the articles differ on Nagesh's title, calling him 'Adilabad MO' and 'former MP'.
Thudum Debba State President Godam Ganesh said Adivasis still face hardship and humiliation 75 years after independence, while MLA Vedma Bojju said the state government is committed to protecting Adivasi rights.
