Andhra Pradesh Plans Nandi Theatre Festival, Telugu Promotion
Andhra Pradesh is planning a large Nandi Theatre Festival.
The government may announce the festival plans in the first week of September.
The festival is expected to take place within a year.
Minister Kandula Durgesh said Telugu should receive more attention.
He said children should be able to receive primary education in Telugu.
Officials also encouraged people to speak, read and write the language.
Nineteen people and one organisation received awards for helping Telugu.
The celebrations included folk performances and a tribute to Telugu Talli.
Tourism and culture minister Kandula Durgesh said plans for the Nandi Theatre Festival were likely to be announced in the first week of September.
Durgesh said the festival would be held on a grand scale within a year.
The government presented Telugu Bhasha Puraskarams-2026 to 19 individuals and one organisation.
Each award recipient received ₹25,000, a memento and a certificate for contributions to promoting Telugu.
Officials and cultural leaders called for greater use of Telugu in education, households, public signs and theatre.
