Gujarat Prepares for Heavy Rainfall, High Alerts Issued
The state of Gujarat in India is getting ready for very heavy rain that could start on July 31 and last until August 2.
The government has put many districts on high alert and told officials not to take leave.
They are keeping special control rooms open all the time and have asked the army and disaster teams to be ready to help.
Schools in the affected areas will be closed, and people living in flood-prone places may be moved to safe shelters.
The government has also issued red and orange alerts for many districts, meaning the rain could be very strong.
Gujarat has placed multiple districts on high alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall from July 31 to August 2.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr Jayanti Ravi ordered cancellation of leave for local officials and 24/7 control rooms in every district.
National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force teams, along with Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, are on standby for relief operations.
School holidays declared in affected districts, and residents of flood-prone areas are to be evacuated to relief shelters.
