NIC: GRMB Must Pay Rs 35 Lakh or Migrate Website
The Godavari River Management Board is a group that looks after the Godavari River.
It has a small website where people can find information.
The website is very small and only a few people use it.
But keeping the website online costs a lot of money.
The National Informatics Centre, which helps run many government websites, says the board must pay about Rs 35 lakh to keep it running.
Another option is to move the website to a new government cloud system.
Moving the website is required, and it would also be a paid service.
The board has asked another government department to help with the move.
If that does not work, they will have to pay the Rs 35 lakh.
This is a decision the board has to make soon.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Hyderabad has asked the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) to either migrate its website to the National Government Cloud (NGC) or pay about Rs 35 lakh to continue hosting it.
The GRMB website uses only about 0.3 GB of storage and is currently accessed by just four users, making the hosting cost an expensive affair.
NIC cited technical constraints with the existing hosting infrastructure and recommended migration to the NGC through NICSI or another MeitY-empanelled cloud service provider.
The website is about three years old, has completed the required Security Audit, and holds a valid SSL certificate.
On July 16, 2026, GRMB asked the Department of Water Resources River Development to accommodate the migration within the DoWR cloud; if not accommodated, GRMB must pay about Rs 35 lakh to migrate to NGC or another cloud platform.
