Radha Ashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Goddess Radha.

It is observed on the eighth day of the bright half of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada.

Many people gathered in Barsana and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh for the celebrations.

Barsana is regarded as Radha’s birthplace.

At the Radha Rani Temple, priests performed a special bathing ceremony called an abhishek at 4 a.m.

They used Panchamrit and recited Vedic chants.

Temples were decorated with flowers and colourful lights, and people sang devotional songs.

Some devotees also took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent good wishes to devotees and the people of Uttar Pradesh.
