India Hosts UN Delegation, Highlights Global South Vision
India’s foreign ministry hosted a dinner for a group of UN leaders visiting the country.
The dinner was a chance for India to explain how it wants the world to work together.
India wants the UN to listen more to countries from the Global South, to improve peacekeeping, and to give women more roles.
It also wants safe seas and better rules for ships.
The visit shows India’s plans to get a seat on the UN Security Council for 2028‑29.

The dinner was part of a week‑long familiarisation visit by Permanent Representatives to the UN.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar launched India’s campaign for a non‑permanent UNSC seat for 2028‑29.
Jaishankar outlined a vision that amplifies the Global South, strengthens peacekeeping, and promotes women’s roles.
India pledged to support a free, open maritime order under UNCLOS and a future‑ready UN peacekeeping framework.
