Chouhan Announces Roadmap To Modernise Agriculture Across Telangana
The Union government wants to help farmers in Telangana use newer farming methods.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said a plan for this work will be announced soon.
The goal is to help farmers earn more money from their crops.
Some successful farmers already earn as much as Rs 5 lakh per acre.
Several government programmes for farming, irrigation, soil testing and fertilisers are expected to be fully used in the state.
Government agriculture officials from southern states will meet in Hyderabad to discuss these plans.
Chouhan also said crop insurance was not used by the earlier BRS government.
The current state government plans to begin the crop insurance programme next financial year.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Centre would introduce a roadmap for modern farming practices across Telangana.
Chouhan said the plan aims to help farmers raise incomes toward levels achieved by progressive farmers, some earning up to Rs 5 lakh per acre.
Central schemes including PM-KISAN, Per Drop More Crop, PMKSY and the Soil Health Card Scheme are to be fully implemented in Telangana.
A Hyderabad conference on Friday will discuss digital agriculture, farmers’ registries, fertiliser management, horticulture, natural farming, pulses and precision farming.
Chouhan criticised the former BRS government over crop insurance, while the current state government plans to implement PMFBY from the next financial year.
