Sri Lanka Sees Record 2.33 Million Tourists in 2025
Sri Lanka had a really great year for tourism in 2025.
Over 2.33 million people visited, which is the most ever.
More than half a million of these visitors were from India, making India the biggest group of tourists.
The Sri Lankan government celebrated this achievement at the airport.
They said it shows how strong their tourism industry is, even after some tough times like a cyclone and a terror attack.
Other countries like Russia, the UK, Germany, and Australia also sent many tourists.
The increase in flights and easy visas helped make Sri Lanka a popular place to visit, especially for people from India.
Sri Lanka received a record 2.33 million tourists in 2025, surpassing the pre-pandemic record of 2018.
Over 500,000 Indian tourists visited Sri Lanka, making India the largest source market at 22% of total arrivals.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority celebrated the milestone with an event at Colombo airport.
Other major tourist source markets include Russia, the UK, Germany, and Australia.
Increased marketing efforts, free visas, and more flights, especially from India, contributed to the record numbers.
