Maharashtra Links Senior Health Officers’ Key Postings to Performance
Maharashtra has created a way to review the work of senior public health officers.
The review will look at their work over the past three years.
Officers can earn up to 100 points for areas such as leadership, cleanliness, handling complaints and managing medicines.
Their scores will put them into one of four groups, from A to D. Officers in the A group will get priority for some important postings.
Officers in the C and D groups may be offered extra help and training.
A good score will not be the only thing considered when choosing someone for a post.
The department will also look at experience, seniority and other rules.
The state may also order an early transfer if an officer’s performance is poor.
Maharashtra’s Public Health Department introduced performance-based evaluations for senior medical and administrative officers.
Assessments will use officers’ available and certified work from the preceding three years, with an annual review as of March 31.
The framework scores officers out of 100 and assigns A, B, C or D categories based on their results.
A-category officers receive priority for quality-based postings; C- and D-category officers may receive training, guidance and improvement plans.
Scores will not determine postings alone; eligibility, seniority, experience, vacancies, reservation rules and administrative needs will also count.
