Gujarat Dengue Cases Fall Nearly 40 Percent; Officials Intensify Surveillance

Gujarat says fewer people have caught dengue and malaria this year than last year.

Dengue cases dropped by 39.6 per cent, while malaria cases dropped by 22 per cent.

Health officials tested more than 1.35 lakh blood-serum samples for suspected dengue.

Of those samples, 2,099 were positive.

The government is still asking officials to increase checks because mosquitoes can spread these illnesses.

Workers are visiting homes to look for places where mosquitoes breed.

Officials must remove those breeding places in cities and villages.

Health centres are also being checked to ensure they have medicines and testing kits.

The health minister said the situation is under control but urged people to keep their surroundings clean and take precautions.
