Centre Sanctions Rs 1,200 Crore to Ten States Under PM-RKVY
The Union Government has approved more than Rs 1,200 crore for farming projects in 10 states.
West Bengal will receive the most money, while Punjab will receive the least among these states.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the funds should reach farmers through quickly implemented schemes.
Officials from the Centre and states will hold regular meetings to check progress.
States will also form teams involving agriculture departments, universities and farmer groups.
A campaign called Khet Bachao Abhiyan will encourage farmers to use fertilisers carefully.
The government wants more pulses to be grown after rice harvests in eastern India.
It also said farmers will receive guaranteed procurement for tur, urad and masoor at minimum support prices.
Payments for those crops are expected within 48 hours.
