Climate Activist Harjeet Singh Arrested by ED

Harjeet Singh, a well-known climate activist, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly keeping too much liquor at his home and for violating foreign exchange rules.

The ED claims that Singh and his company, SSPL, received a lot of money from foreign groups to promote a treaty that aims to reduce fossil fuel use.

The ED says this money was not used properly and was instead used for personal purposes.

Singh denies these claims and says he was misunderstood by the government.

The ED is also investigating Singh's trips to Pakistan and Bangladesh, where he met with various people.

The investigation is ongoing to see if these activities were against India's interests.

Singh's NGO, Satat Sampada, has called the allegations baseless and misleading, stating that the company was established using personal savings and loans and that the funds were used for environmental and climate causes.
