India Plans Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum by 2028
India is planning a very large museum in two historic government buildings in New Delhi.
The museum will be called the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum.
Workers have started restoring the North Block and South Block.
They want to keep the buildings’ original designs while making changes needed for a museum.
The museum will explain India’s story over more than 5,000 years.
It will have eight sections and about 950 rooms.
Experts and companies from India and other countries are being invited to help build it.
The first phase is expected to be completed and opened in 2028.
Restoration of New Delhi’s North and South Blocks has begun, preserving their original design.
The buildings will be converted into the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum through a consortium selected by global tender.
Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal said the project aims to create the world’s best institution of its kind.
The museum will present India’s history across eight thematic segments spanning more than 5,000 years.
The planned museum will cover nearly 1.5 lakh square metres, with 950 rooms across a basement and three storeys.
