US Ambassador Sergio Gor Visits Ladakh’s Thiksey Monastery
US Ambassador Sergio Gor visited an old Buddhist monastery in Ladakh.
The monastery is called Thiksey Monastery.
He looked around its temples for about half an hour.
Monks explained Ladakh’s Buddhist traditions and culture to him.
The monastery is on a hill near Leh.
It has paintings, statues, stupas and other Buddhist artwork.
Its Maitreya Temple contains a very large statue.
Gor had arrived in Leh after visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
