Madhya Pradesh Probe Uncovers Alleged Moong Procurement Fraud

Some farmers in Madhya Pradesh allegedly discovered that government records said they had sold moong, even though they had not grown or sold it.

Investigators say computer operators used the farmers’ land records to create registrations without permission.

The operators allegedly bought moong cheaply from markets.

They then sold it through government centres at the higher minimum support price.

The difference between the two prices became their alleged profit.

Three operators have been booked by the Economic Offences Wing.

The alleged scheme involved cooperative societies in Raisen district.

Earlier departmental inquiries reportedly found rule violations, but criminal action did not happen until the EOW investigation.
