Assam Confirms Detention of Two Declared Foreigners
Assam tells High Court two ‘missing’ declared foreigners held at Kokrajhar battalion · The Hindu

Two men, Abu Bakkar Siddik and Akbar Ali, who were declared foreigners, were reported 'missing' after being arrested.

Their nephew asked the court for help finding them.

The court learned they are being held at a police location in Kokrajhar.

The court has now allowed the nephew to visit his uncles and wants more information from the government about why they are being held.

The men were previously detained in 2017 for failing to prove their ancestors entered India before a specific date.

They were later released on bail.

The court is also looking at how Foreigners Tribunals work in Assam.
