Andhra Police Boosts Justice Delivery with Speed Monitoring
The Andhra Pradesh Police have started a new system to make sure that people who commit crimes against women and children are punished quickly.
They have set up special teams and trained many girls in self-defense.
In the past two years, they have successfully convicted 470 people, with some getting very serious punishments like life imprisonment or even the death sentence.
The police are also patrolling all the time to keep women and children safe.
Andhra Pradesh Police implemented a Speed Trial Monitoring system for swift convictions in crimes against women and children.
Vizianagaram district recorded the highest number of convictions at 49, followed by NTR Commissionerate (37), Eluru (34), SPSR Nellore (32), and Visakhapatnam (31).
470 cases were convicted between June 2024 and January 2026, including 28 convictions in December 2025 alone.
Sentences ranged from death penalties to less than five years, with 132 life imprisonments and 103 20-year sentences.
164 Shakti Teams are on 24/7 patrol, and 4,06,500 girl students have received self-defense training in 12,873 schools and 1,315 colleges.
