Ten Assam Residents Missing After Nepal Flash Floods
Ten people from Assam are still officially listed as missing in Nepal.
They were affected by huge flash floods that struck Nepal.
The missing people come from five districts of Assam.
Earlier, officials had listed 12 people as missing.
Families later said that two people from Nalbari were safe.
One family in Karbi Anglong also said their relative was safe, but officials have not confirmed it yet.
Nepal’s floods have killed hundreds of people and damaged homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
Assam has opened help desks and shared phone numbers for families seeking information.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority said 10 people from Assam are missing in Nepal.
The missing people include three each from Kamrup (Metro) and Karbi Anglong, two from Nalbari, and one each from Golaghat and Hojai.
Earlier, 12 people were reported missing, but families confirmed that two people from Nalbari are safe.
A Karbi Anglong family also said one missing person is safe, though the state disaster authority has not confirmed it.
Nepal’s flash floods have killed 579 people, while 1,545 injured and stranded people have been rescued.
