Bhubaneswar start-up tests drug manufacturing in space

A company in India called Serendipity Space wants to help make medicine in space.

The company is based in the city of Bhubaneswar.

It started its work just last year.

It used a very big balloon to send a small satellite system high into the sky.

The balloon was launched from a special facility in Hyderabad, run by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.

High up in the sky, things float because there is almost no gravity.

In that floaty environment, the satellite ran a tiny factory called Alchemy.

The factory worked continuously even in the tough conditions of near-space.

After doing its job, the satellite made a safe, controlled return to Earth.

This success is an important step for private space companies in India.
