Bhopal Civic Body Probes Suspected Forged Birth, Death Certificates
Bhopal’s city corporation is checking old birth and death certificates for possible forgery.
This began after a fake passport racket was uncovered.
Officials believe some brokers may have helped people obtain certificates without proper documents.
The corporation says some brokers pressured or threatened employees and disrupted office work.
It has asked police to investigate one alleged broker.
Officials will also examine software and applications suspected of helping make fake certificates.
CCTV footage from the registration office may be checked.
If certificates are proven fake, the corporation says it will seek police cases, called FIRs.
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation will scrutinise past suspicious birth and death certificate cases after a fake passport racket was exposed.
The corporation plans to lodge FIRs if forgery is established.
BMC has sought police action against a broker accused of arranging forged certificates and disrupting work at its ISBT registration branch.
Officials are examining suspected broker networks, software and applications allegedly used to create or facilitate fake certificates.
BMC referred to complaints dated June 25 and July 22, 2025, and suggested reviewing CCTV footage to investigate the allegations.
