India Telecom Subscriber Base Reaches 1.354 Billion In July
India had more phone connections in July 2026 than in the previous month.
The country added about 6.2 million subscribers.
Most of the new connections were wireless mobile connections.
A smaller number were wireline connections.
Broadband subscriptions also increased, especially wireless broadband.
Rural areas added 1.58 million telephone subscribers.
More people also asked to keep their phone numbers while changing providers.
TRAI published these figures in its monthly telecom data.
India’s total telephone subscriber base rose by 6.2 million to 1,354.28 million in July 2026.
Wireless connections increased by 6.02 million, while wireline connections grew by 0.19 million.
Broadband subscribers totaled 1,094.48 million including M2M connections, or 1,005.72 million excluding them.
Rural telephone subscribers increased by 1.58 million to 557.59 million, reaching 41.17 per cent of the total base.
TRAI reported 15.98 million mobile number portability requests and 1,204.01 million peak-VLR active wireless subscribers in July.
