Telangana Fertiliser App Helps Curb Illegal Urea Stocking
Telangana used an app to help manage fertiliser sales for farmers.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said the app tracks how much fertiliser is in stock and how much is sold.
He said this helped stop illegal storing and selling of urea.
Farmers used the app to book fertiliser bags, and many had already bought their bookings.
The state also worked to get fertiliser shipments delivered on time.
Urea stocks were higher than they were last year.
The minister said farmers used 35,000 fewer tonnes of urea than the previous year.
Telangana has also completed 75.9% of its digital crop survey.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao credited advance stock positioning, prompt shipments, and app-based monitoring for fertiliser distribution during the Kharif season.
The state-developed urea app tracks stocks and sales and, the minister said, helped curb illegal storage and black marketing.
A total of 33.39 lakh farmers registered through the app and booked 142.08 lakh bags; 128.18 lakh bags had been purchased.
Urea sales were reported at 9.44 lakh metric tonnes in 2026-27, while usage was down 35,000 tonnes from the previous year.
Urea stocks stood at 2.33 lakh metric tonnes, compared with 0.50 lakh metric tonnes the previous year; Telangana's digital crop survey was 75.9% complete.
