Coles Centennial Church Launches Sports Meet During Anniversary
Coles Centennial Telugu Baptist Church is celebrating its 108th anniversary.
As part of the celebration, it started a three-day sports meet.
Church leaders opened the event by cutting a ribbon.
The sports are meant to help people stay physically fit and mentally refreshed.
Men, women, boys and girls can take part.
The competitions include games such as volleyball, football, hockey, carroms and cricket.
A former Olympic Association president said missionaries had supported sports along with education.
He also said some athletes developed their skills on missionary-built playgrounds.
Coles Centennial Telugu Baptist Church launched sports competitions during its 108th annual anniversary celebrations in Kurnool.
Church president Solomon and secretary Anil Nath inaugurated the events by cutting a ribbon on Friday.
The sports meet carries the theme “Sports for physical fitness and mental refreshment.”
The three-day programme includes volleyball, shuttle, mini football, throwball, tennis kho-kho, hockey, carroms and short cricket.
Competitions are being held for men, women, boys and girls, with women’s throwball and tennis kho-kho inaugurated by church leaders.
