Two Left parties in Tamil Nadu have decided to contest upcoming Assembly bypolls on their own.

The CPI will fight in Dharapuram.

The CPI(M) will fight in Maduranthakam.

They will work together with other Left parties but will not join an electoral alliance.

The CPI said the bypolls were imposed rather than naturally required.

The elections are scheduled for October 6.

Party leaders announced their decisions in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli.

The parties also provide outside support to the ruling TVK, according to the report.
