FSSAI Suspends Seven Seas Licence After Extensive Food Safety Violations
Food safety inspectors checked a hotel in Delhi's Rohini area.
They found spoiled food, dirty cooking oil, insects and problems with food storage.
Some food had fungus growing on it.
The hotel also had poor cleaning, ventilation, lighting and refrigeration conditions.
Inspectors destroyed about 74 kilograms or litres of unsafe food at the site.
The hotel's food licence was suspended, so it must stop food-related business during the suspension.
In a separate action, Maharashtra officials seized more than 50 tonnes of food from different establishments.
They also suspended the licences or registrations of about 30 food businesses.
FSSAI suspended M/s Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.'s licence with immediate effect.
Inspectors found fungal growth, rotten vegetables, blackened oil, cockroaches and house flies.
The hotel recorded a compliance score of only 30 per cent.
About 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food articles were destroyed on-site.
Maharashtra FDA separately seized 50,601.78 kg of food stock worth nearly ₹1.20 crore.
