‘Blatant misuse of power’: PDP slams FIR against Mehbooba, Iltija · theprint.in

A big political party in India called the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is upset with the police.

The police in Srinagar filed a case, called an FIR, against two political leaders, Mehbooba Mufti and her daughter Iltija Mufti.

The two took part in a peaceful protest a few days ago.

The protest was about a special law called Article 370, which was removed seven years ago.

On August 4, Mehbooba Mufti led a peaceful candlelight protest outside the PDP office.

The party says the police case is a 'blatant misuse of power and authority.'

The party also says police officers were rough with Iltija and dragged her.

The PDP says it has eyewitnesses to what happened.

It plans to take the matter to court and wants the police officers punished.
