GST Council To Meet On September 12, May Consider Simplifying Registration For Large Businesses · freepressjournal.in

India’s GST Council is planning a meeting in New Delhi on September 12, 2026.

The Council includes the Union finance minister and state finance ministers.

They may discuss making GST registration easier for large businesses.

These businesses pass on more than Rs 2.5 lakh in tax credit each month.

Different tax offices currently use different registration procedures, which can confuse businesses.

The Council may also discuss using more automation when cancelling registrations.

A simpler registration system for small and low-risk businesses began in November 2025.

Around 1.68 crore businesses are registered under GST.
