ED Says Tirupati Laddu Ghee Used Palm Oil, Chemicals
The Enforcement Directorate is investigating claims that fake or adulterated ghee was supplied for making Tirupati Laddu prasadam.
The agency says the ghee was made with palm-based oils and several chemicals instead of being genuine cow ghee.
It says the product was then labelled as special-grade cow ghee.
Kailash Chand Mangla, who promotes Sukriti Foods, was arrested on September 17.
A court in Visakhapatnam sent him to judicial custody.
The ED says he helped obtain the adulterants and make the product at his factory.
It also alleges that false business records were created to hide what was really used.
These are allegations made during the agency’s money-laundering investigation, not a final court finding.
The Enforcement Directorate arrested Kailash Chand Mangla, promoter of Sukriti Foods, on September 17 in the alleged Tirupati ghee adulteration case.
The ED alleged that refined palm oil, palmolein and chemicals were used to manufacture the adulterated ghee.
The agency said the product was supplied as Agmark Special Grade Cow Ghee for preparing Tirupati Laddu prasadam.
Allegedly fraudulent ghee supplies to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams from 2019 to 2024 were valued at Rs 230 crore.
A special PMLA court in Visakhapatnam sent Mangla to judicial custody; the ED had earlier arrested Vipin Jain in a related case.
