Chandigarh marks 2.09 lakh voters for deletion in draft roll

Chandigarh is a city in India where people vote in elections.

The government keeps a big list of everyone who is allowed to vote, called the electoral roll.

Officials are checking this list during a special drive called the Special Intensive Revision.

They found more than 2 lakh names on the list that may need to be removed.

Almost one out of every three voters from the old list could be deleted.

The old list had about 6.6 lakh names, and after removing those names, only about 4.5 lakh would remain.

Some names, about 66,000, are still being checked because the people may have moved, passed away, or be duplicates.

This is like cleaning up a class roster so it only has the right students.

The goal is to make sure the voting list is as accurate as possible.
