Tata Sons chief may step down before the AGM
N Chandrasekaran may step down as Tata Sons chairman ahead of AGM · thehindubusinessline.com

Tata Sons is a very large group of companies that makes software, cars and even runs an airline.

The person in charge is called the chairman, and right now that person is N Chandrasekaran.

There is a big meeting on August 18 where owners of the company will vote.

They will decide whether Chandrasekaran can stay on the company's board of directors.

Some reports say he is thinking about leaving before that meeting happens.

A man named Noel Tata, who leads the charity part of the group, does not want him to be chosen again.

Because of that, a decision earlier in the year about keeping him as chairman was put off.

There is also a legal question because a large owner, the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, is stopped from making decisions right now.

The two sides have also disagreed about who sits on the board and about a smaller owner who wants to leave.
