India’s IITs are adding more courses about artificial intelligence and other new technologies.

AI is no longer being taught only as part of computer science.

It is also being used in subjects such as healthcare, manufacturing, chemistry, accounting and engineering.

IIT Delhi has programmes in machine intelligence and data science.

IIT Madras offers an AI bachelor’s degree and online postgraduate study.

Its SWAYAM Plus platform lets more people take beginner-friendly AI courses online.

IIT Bombay has added programmes involving semiconductors, climate, materials and AI.

The IIT Madras director said AI should help traditional engineering rather than replace it.
