Telangana Draws Up Road Safety Plan for Seven Districts
Telangana officials have made a plan to help prevent road crashes and deaths.
It focuses on seven districts where road safety is a particular concern.
The plans list dangerous road stretches and places where crashes, traffic violations and pedestrian accidents occur.
Police and transport officials will study when and why crashes happen.
They will work on safer roads, teach people about road safety, enforce traffic rules and improve emergency help for crash victims.
Officials were also told to record every crash on a national accident-reporting platform.
The goal is to reduce deaths, with a stated aim of reaching zero fatalities.
The DGP said more than 7,000 people die in road accidents in Telangana each year.
Telangana police and the Transport Department prepared measures to reduce road crashes and deaths, focusing on seven high-risk districts.
The district plans cover Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Sangareddy, Hanumakonda, Warangal and Jangaon.
The plans identify 48 critical accident corridors, 230 locations with four or more fatalities, 220 traffic-violation locations and 183 critical pedestrian accident spots.
Director-General of Police C V Anand called for accident data, crash causes, road conditions and accident-prone locations to be systematically recorded and analysed.
Officials will use an approach covering education, engineering, enforcement and emergency support; the DGP said Telangana records more than 7,000 road deaths annually.
