Telangana Creates Unified Bureau for Traffic and Road Safety

Telangana is creating a new bureau to make roads, railways and traffic safer.

The bureau will work across the state’s large road network.

It will be based in Hyderabad and led by a senior police officer.

One part will manage traffic, signals and emergencies.

Another part will investigate crashes, issue electronic fines and oversee highway patrols.

Police officers will use cameras and devices to detect speeding and identify vehicles.

Each police station will have an officer who responds to road crashes and helps people get medical care quickly.

The government will use part of the money from traffic fines to pay for safety equipment and repairs.
