Parliament Monsoon Session Disruptions Cost Rs 175 Crore

Parliament is the group of people who make laws for a country.

In India, it has two parts: the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Every year, they meet for special times called sessions, including a monsoon session during the rainy season.

This time, the meetings were very noisy and not much work got done.

People were shouting and walking out, so leaders could not discuss the laws properly.

Even so, 20 new bills were passed, but without any debate.

Wasting time in parliament is very expensive — every minute costs about Rs 2.5 lakh.

In total, around Rs 175 crore was lost.

This has happened many times before, during big arguments over the Bofors scandal, the 2G scam, and demonetization.

When parliament cannot work, it costs the country a lot of money.
