Andhra Pradesh has started selling onions at a cheaper price.

The onions will cost Rs 35 for one kilogram.

They are being sold at 115 Rythu Bazaars across the state.

People can buy up to two kilograms if they show their Aadhaar.

In regular markets, onions cost more than Rs 70 per kilogram.

The programme is supported by the Centre and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation.

Officials said some onions in the first shipment had quality problems and would be sorted.

The government also plans to sell some other food items at lower prices.

It said there is enough rice and asked people not to believe shortage rumours.
