Karnataka Forms Three Panels for AI-Led Police Modernisation
The Karnataka government has created three groups to help improve the state police.
One group will study how people use police services and how those services can become faster and easier.
It will examine things such as filing complaints, registering FIRs and contacting emergency services.
A second group will plan how technology can help the police.
This includes artificial intelligence, cybercrime tools, forensic laboratories and the 112 emergency system.
A third group will study how many police workers are needed and how they should be recruited and promoted.
The groups will also consider training, housing and staff welfare.
They must give their recommendations to the government within two months.
The plans are part of wider proposed changes to policing, especially in Bengaluru.
The Karnataka government has formed three expert committees to review police services, modernisation and workforce planning.
Retired DGPs R K Dutta, M N Reddy and Kamal Pant will lead the committees, which have two months to submit recommendations.
The first panel will assess citizen services, FIR registration, emergency response, complaints, police stations and community policing.
The second will develop a phased modernisation plan covering artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities, 112 services, forensics, communications and computerisation.
