NIA Court Sentences Accused in Islamic State Terror Case
A special court connected to India’s National Investigation Agency sentenced Huzair Farhan Baig to six years in prison.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 58,000.
Investigators said the case involved a secret group linked to the Islamic State.
The group was allegedly operating in Thirthahalli town in Karnataka.
The NIA said Baig was recruited and radicalised by Maaz Muneer Ahmed and Syed Yasin.
It also said an online handler called “Colonel” helped guide the group.
Baig allegedly arranged a place in Bengaluru for terrorist activities.
The NIA said money was sent using cryptocurrency and then converted into regular currency.
The alleged online handler, Mohammed Shaheed Faisal, remains absconding, according to the agency.

Baig was also fined Rs 58,000 in the terror conspiracy case.
The case concerns an alleged Islamic State module operating in Thirthahalli, Shivamogga district.
Investigators said Baig helped arrange a Bengaluru hideout and handled cryptocurrency-linked funds for it.
The NIA has filed four chargesheets against 12 accused; three others have already been convicted and sentenced.
