Parents Die Trying to Stop Son’s Suicide in Maharashtra
Police said a 19-year-old man named Kunal went to a hill after arguing with his parents about a mobile phone.
His parents followed him because they wanted to keep him safe.
Police, villagers and firefighters also came to help.
They tried to talk to Kunal and put a safety net below the hill.
Kunal then fell from the hill.
His father fell while trying to save or follow him.
His mother jumped from the hill after seeing her husband and son fall.
All three family members died, and their bodies were recovered by police.
Police said 19-year-old Kunal Chandgude went to a hill in Tisgaon around 10 a.m. after arguing with his parents over a mobile phone.
Kunal’s parents, Murlidhar Chandgude, 48, and Sangita Chandgude, went to the hill to persuade him to return home.
Police, villagers and fire brigade personnel tried to convince Kunal to move away from the cliff and placed a safety net below.
Kunal fell from the hill, and his father fell while attempting to save or follow him, police said.
Sangita subsequently jumped from the hill, and all three died; police recovered their bodies for further formalities.
