Nellore is building a new drainage channel in the Old Petrol Bunk area.

The channel is meant to stop sewage from overflowing onto streets.

It should also help reduce waterlogging during problems with excess water.

Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha said more drainage projects are planned in other parts of the city.

She told officials and contractors to do good-quality work and finish on time.

Residents of a nearby TIDCO housing complex also reported not having enough drinking water.

The Mayor ordered engineers to drill 10 new borewells there.

She also asked them to arrange enough water for all the families living in the complex.
