Annapurna Yojana payments begin; Adhikari urges wealthy to forgo benefits

The West Bengal government has a special program called Annapurna Yojana that gives money to women who need help.

Every woman who qualifies gets 3,000 rupees.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the payments have started going into women's bank accounts.

Very many women signed up for the program, about 1.8 crore people sent in forms.

The government is checking the forms carefully to make sure only women who truly need the money get it.

So far, 76,817 women from North Kolkata have been approved.

If a woman does not get her payment, she can complain on a special website that opens on the 20th.

The leader also asked rich people to kindly say no to the money, so another woman who needs it can get it instead.

That way, the help can reach the women who need it the most.
