Tamil Nadu Expands Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme to Classes Six-Eight

Tamil Nadu is expanding its school breakfast programme.

Starting September 22, students in Classes 6 to 8 will also receive free breakfast.

About 15.30 lakh students will be included.

The meals will be served in government and government-aided schools.

Self Help Group members will cook the food fresh.

The programme will use kitchens in Chennai and other parts of the state.

Officials say the plan will help children stay healthy, attend school and learn better.

The scheme is named the Perunthalivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme.
