Andhra Pradesh Adds Nutrition Centres to Expand Malnutrition Care

Andhra Pradesh plans to open 21 new centres to help very undernourished children.

These centres will provide medical care, food support and monitoring.

The new facilities will add 175 beds.

This will increase the state’s total number of centres from 21 to 42.

The centres will be opened in stages, including in tribal areas.

Some buildings are finished, while others are still being built or prepared.

The government has set aside money for buildings, staff training, maintenance and worker incentives.

In recent reporting periods, nearly all admitted children recovered and were discharged.

The centres mainly help children younger than five who have severe acute malnutrition and related health problems.
