Central Railway honors 11 employees for timely landslide alerts
General Manager confers Special Safety Award to 11 employees for timely alerts of landslide and excellent work during restoration of Ghat section · freepressjournal.in

In July 2026, very heavy rain fell near the towns of Lonavala and Karjat in India.

The rain was so strong that on one day it poured as much as 670 millimeters.

All that water caused the ground to slip and rocks to fall onto the train tracks.

Eleven railway workers noticed the damaged tracks and quickly told their bosses.

Because they warned everyone fast, no trains were sent into the dangerous area.

The workers then helped fix the tracks so trains could safely run again.

On 11 August 2026, the head of Central Railway gave each of them a special safety award.

The award came with a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize as a big thank you.

This story shows that speaking up quickly when you see a problem can keep many people safe.
